That marriage worked for a while. However, unfortunately and eventually, the relationship broke down mostly because of a lack of understanding who CAYC is and what CAYC does and hopes to accomplish within the Comfort area. The Boy's and Girl's Club "vast funding" - did not translate to CAYC's projects and dreams. Because the Comfort community has a proud history of pride and principle, the marriage for all purposes was ended and CAYC went back to the drawing board to determine how it might continue to pursue its original hopes and dreams. The long range CAYC future projects are to build a much needed community youth center and a swimming pool for our youth/adult community. Real estate — ideal for this purpose — has been located on the corner of Fifth and Front Street. This location is exceptionally advantageous to our after school program as the property is centrally located and within walking distance from the elementary and middle schools. It is large enough to accommodate a multi-use youth activities center, a swimming pool, a parking lot and possible other sports outlets. An agreement of $250,000 was reached with the owner/realtor and CAYC has a five year option to purchase.

The Status Quo of CAYC today In recent weeks, CAYC has undergone a total reorganization with a renewed optimism for the future of accomplishing all of CAYC's hopes and dreams. We are planning a New Year's Eve Party in the Comfort Park and also our annual fundraiser in March 2009.

This newsletter is made possible through a grant from the WILL SMITH FOUNDATION. Through this partnership we will continue to provide our Comfort community with monthly newsletters bringing you all the latest news about the projects and activities of your Comfort Area Youth Commission - a Comfort based 501 c.3 organization.

We pledge to the youth of our community that we are making every effort to support and encourage you by providing you with opportunities for your enrichment and recreation.

The WILL SMITH FOUNDATION has pledged to assist CAYC in every possible way to memorialize the short but remarkable life of eight year old Will Smith who died in a tragic auto accident in 2007 while vacationing on the island of Maui.

Will touched the lives of many and is remembered today for his giving heart and compassion for people and all living things. WSF and CAYC is a fitting partnership.

It is awesome to be led by this child who inspires us to a new awareness and importance of providing all of our children with the support, love, and education they need to thrive in today's society.Thank you, Will Smith and all your family.
